It had been …1450 days or…207 weeks or….34, 000 hours or…2,880,000minutes or…. 125,280,000 seconds since the last time the varsity football team had won a game. It was on October 14 2005, against Gardner Edgerton. No one knew that would be the last victory in the upcoming four years. Game after game, the Cyclone boys got defeated. That did not stop them from practicing hard and playing with all they had. The fans still came to the games and cheered them on. All of their hard work, finally paid off.

On Oct 2 of this year, the varsity football team dominated the Baldwin Bulldogs, 18-7. It was a game that made history, and it will always be remembered.

“It felt absolutely amazing to win our first game. I feel like it should have happened a long time ago though.” Senior Devin Turner said.

The crowd roared intensely with excitement.

“It was a well deserved win, and it was about time. I felt proud I attended all the games, even when the record wasn’t great,” Junior Brigitte Clancy said.

All of the students who attended that game rushed down to greet the football players on the field.

“My heart was pumping and I was filled with excitement from head to toe. I just wanted to tell them what a great job they did!” junior Paige McFarland said.

This victory was very much needed and showed that if you do not give up and keep giving it all that you have it will pay off. Our school is proud of the boys and cannot wait to keep cheering them on.
