Student Involvement

Student involvement has slowly decreased throughout the years. There have been quite a few attempts to try and boost student interest, but they have failed. They have been unsuccessful because sometimes the ideas were not good to begin with, or the student body just simply did not want to be a part of what was going on.

In the past, Student council has tried to set up spirit weeks. Sprit weeks are where each day has a theme, such as Superhero day, Cartoon Character day, Super Spy day, etc. Students can dress appropriately on the each day of the themes. Some students do decide to participate but a lot of the student body does not. You would think that since the Student Council setup this idea, they would be the ones leading an example and dressing up. Think again because that is not always the case either. If we as a school are trying to be more involved in things, the leaders of the school should be the first ones to jump in and hopefully get people to follow their lead.

There are always excuses and exceptions to every situation. Maybe you could not think of anything to wear, or you did not have anything to wear, maybe you do not feel cool dressing up when no one else does either. Whatever the excuse or exception may be you, should always try to find some way, sometime to be an involved student and an involved person.  Even if you are not a part of the Student Council, you still have the opportunity to be a leader and have people follow in your footsteps.

Being involved is important because it makes you a more, well rounded person and helps you be more interactive with people, therefore leading you to be more successful in the future. You learn how to work with people you might not want to work with, and deal with situations you might encounter later down the road. It is better, and it is common sense to be active in something you have interest in. So pick something that you have a passion for or are interested in, and then you can branch off into other things. Sometimes it is hard to start by yourself so try to get friends to start with you. When we all come together we can come up with ideas to be as involved as possible!
