It’s the Holiday Season..

With the holiday season here, millions of people have trees set up, as well as lights and decorations around the house. Other families that do not celebrate have other decorations and traditions. On the radio, you might tune into a station that plays non-stop Christmas music all day long, or perhaps sing carols yourself. At department stores, it is common to hear Christmas songs being played all through the store.

Although many people, especially those who work in the stores, love to hear holiday songs all day, even while shopping, others do not. Especially if they do not celebrate Christmas. Some people that do not celebrate Christmas could find this offensive because their holiday is not being celebrated.  This controversy has been going on for a long time, but it seems as if there has never been a resolution.

Yes I do celebrate Christmas, and I do love hearing Christmas music over the radio and when I go shopping, but I feel like there has been more controversy over the topic than need be. It is understandable that some people would be upset about the music, but I do not feel as if everyone is. Stores will choose what they want to play, and if they play it they must feel as if it is appropriate music.  Some stores do not play the music, and that is their own decision. Some even play “holiday” music, instead of Christmas music. The difference is that the holiday music does not say Christmas, but instead rejoices in the holidays. No matter what your preference is or what holiday you celebrate, make this time of year a happy time, when your friends and family can come together. Do not let a silly song played in a store ruin this time of year.
