To some people, a yearbook is just something they get at the beginning of the year; to others,  it is a book that they look through to see themselves in certain sports or maybe just happen to be in a picture somewhere. To a yearbook staff member, however, receiving their yearbook is one of the best times of the year.

It shows all of the hard work they put into the previous year to make their page the best it could possibly be. Some people see yearbook as an easy A, but ask any yearbook staff member, and that most definitely will not be their answer. Being on staff takes a lot of time and effort to put together a page, not to mention having it done by a certain deadline. A lot of work goes into designing a page, such as creating picture packets, mods, captions and writing a story. Without a yearbook, most high school students would not remember many of their experiences while they were here. We do our best to make each page unique and try not to use the same person over and over again throughout the book. Each year we put a lot of thought into the theme and try to place it throughout the book.

To me, yearbook is something that I can express my creativity through. I am not very artistic when it comes to drawing or painting, but when I get to play around on InDesign, I love being able to take a blank page and create an entire spread by myself. The thing I like the most about being on staff is that at the end of the year, I can look back and see all of the pages I designed. It definitely makes me feel accomplished.

As for the reason I chose yearbook over newspaper, I realized that I was a lot better at creating mods and designing pages then I was at writing stories and well, that is what newspaper is. I also chose yearbook in hopes that I would be an editor my senior year, but this year I am just a copy editor. This goes to show that in both newspaper and yearbook each member has goals and ideas that they want to bring to the table and see happen.
