Sport Gone Bad

Elizabeth Lambert is the hottest thing on the Internet but not for a good reason. She was videotaped while punching and pulling hair at the Mexico vs. Mountain West on Nov. 5th. It was the semifinals for both teams and Lambert took it a little too far. She took down any player who got in her way. She violently punched a player in the back, pulled a pony tail and kicked a ball into another player’s face. Kassidy Shumway, a BYU player could have had serious injuries, ranging from neck or spinal injuries to paralyzation.

Lambert received one yellow card throughout the whole game and then got suspended for the remaining part of the game. The University of Mexico stated that Lambert has been taken out of practices, competition and conditioning activities.

“My actions were uncalled for. I let my emotions get the best of me in a heated situation. I take full responsibility for my actions and accept any punishment felt necessary from the coaching staff and UNM administration. This is in no way indicative of my character or the soccer player that I am. I am sorry to my coaches and teammates for any and all damages I have brought upon them. I am especially sorry to BYU and the BYU women’s soccer players that were personally affected by my actions. I have the utmost respect for the BYU women’s soccer program and its players,” Lambert said to the Huffington Post.

It was in no way necessary for her to behave this way. Lambert should have been kicked out of the soccer program for good.  They need to do something about her before she really does hurt someone. They are pushing for battery charges and aggravated assault on Lambert.  Something really needs to be done this is a bad image on the New Mexico University and its sports programs as well as sport in general.
