The weather is clearing up, the sun is shining and the temperature is rising. With these changes, students’ eyes begin to wander from the white board to the window with the warm weather beckoning them to come outside. All these distractions make it difficult to focus on the work at hand. Thoughts of the nearing summer put students’ minds in a daydreaming state focused on vacation, swimming and carefree days.  Spring sports are also starting and taking up a lot of students are trading in their books for a baseball bat, glove, shin guards or golf clubs. All these factors result in less studying, less preparation for tests and finals and a rise in less than average grades.

“One of the most important things to do is stay organized, keep track of assignments and have a to-do list for personal items” say Mrs. Miller.

Procrastination is the deadly sin that takes down most students along with their grades that last semester.

“Do not procrastinate and stay focused.” Says senior Ashley Evans

From student to student, and teacher to student, following these tips will hopefully make students stay focused and make it through the end of the year and enjoy the summer sun without the worry of repeating a class and taking dreaded summer school. You can do it!!
