The Last Night of the Year

When Christmas winds down, New Year’s ends the holiday season right and kicks off the next year. Filled with fun, food, and games, this night is a blast for all ages.

Many people have different traditions that they do every year. Some spend the holiday with family, while others enjoy a party with all their friends.

“On New Year’s my whole family comes over and we watch the New Year’s show on TV and the ball drop.” said freshman Lance Behnning,.

Eric Branson, junior, has different plans. He said that every year his church hosts a party he goes to and it is really fun.

Other people do more unique things. Lauren Wiseman, senior, has around 50 people come to her house every year. They have a “Big Blue Grass Festival Party.” There are lots of acoustic guitars and they make homemade chili.

If you do not have any plans, you could throw a party for all your closest friends. You can do anything from a movie marathon to a black tie ball.

Yet this holiday is not all about the parties. Many people also make New Year’s resolutions. A New Year’s resolution is a goal you set and try to accomplish it in the following year. While some people are very good at keeping their goals, others struggle.

“Last year I made a New Year’s Resolution to start all of my homework after dinner. It lasted about a week into school, because I was usually too busy to follow it.”  said junior Anna Stone. However, Stone is not alone. According to pr9.net only eight percent of Americans actually keep their New Year’s resolution. But that does not mean you cannot keep yours. When formulating your goal, make sure it is realistic and something you really want to accomplish. This will help you achieve your goal.

However you spend the holiday and whatever goal you set, New Year’s Eve is sure to be a night of fun.
