Unknown Newsletter

As many of you know, the school newspaper has gone completely online this year. With the cost of paper and the technology we have today these changes are becoming more frequent, including the parent newsletter that used to be mailed out to each family. You may also know that this change is not well known, few people know that the newsletter exists online. Students here could care more or less about the newsletter, but many parents would rely on it to find out important dates and upcoming events and meetings.
Students have their thoughts about the changes, though not always agreeing with one another. Some vote it is helping out the environment and going green whereas others think that now that it is not handed to them, they are more prone to not take the time and read it online.
Callie Paquette, Senior, is a member of the recycling club. Her thoughts are about saving paper and helping the environment.
“They are no longer wasting paper by printing it out to everyone. People can now decide whether or not they want to read it and save the paper if they do not,” Paquette said.
Others disagree; they feel it is not such a good idea to have it online and students especially will read it less and less.
Tyler Marcus, Senior, thinks it should still be printed out and given to everyone. “I wish it was in a paper form because my internet never works,” Marcus said.
Both sides make their points be heard, but most students and parents have no clue that the newsletter is online. The online version needs to be better known and help keep parents, teachers and students informed on what is going on around school.
